Roca Redonda (25 km nördlich von der Insel Isabela)

On a dive at Roca Redonda, you will encounter Hammerheads, Wahoos, big eye Jacks, and at times you can see the underwater volcanic vents which release warm water bubble streams. It is located 25 kilometers northwest of Isabela Island and its surface is about three acres. Roca Redonda is the summit of a submarine volcano that rises vertically at 70m from the ocean. The islet has a striking mountain formation, similar to a plateau.

Roca Redonda is a remote rocky island in the Galápagos Archipelago. It is located about 25 kilometers northwest of Isabela, the largest island in the archipelago. The elongated rock has a length of 308 meters in a southwest-northeast direction and a width of 136 meters. It covers an area of about 3 hectares. Roca Redonda represents the summit of an underwater shield volcano and rises vertically up to 70 meters from the ocean. The island has a striking plateau-like plateau, and Roca Redonda is an important breeding area for seabirds. In addition to birds endemic to the entire archipelago, the Galapagos wave runner, which is only endemic to this island and belongs to the petrel family, occurs here. Roca Redonda is also an insider tip for divers: Red snapper often form a huge cloud that turns the day into a dark night when you immerse yourself in the group. Again and again the fish mass opens up and you can see individual hammer or Galapagos sharks. Almost all of the fish species found here occur in "masses". In many cases, eagle rays can also be admired.
